CAN PULMONARY SURFACTANT PROTEINS BE RELIABLE INDICATORS OF COVID-19-ASSOCIATED PULMONARY INJURY?

چکیده
The COVID-19 pandemic is still raging all over the world. New variants of coronavirus emerge and infect recovered from previous infections, vaccinated, unvaccinated subjects. One aspect remains unchanged that lungs are main targets coronavirus. This challenging situation requires search for reliable predictive markers severe complicated course disease. Serum surfactant proteins known to correlate with pulmonary injury severity in numerous diseases. Measurement such protein levels may help timely predict risk. Surfactant can also be helpful diagnostic purposes COVID-19.

Vitamin K-dependent carboxylation of pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins.
Rat type II pneumocytes expressed vitamin K-dependent carboxylase activity that incorporated 14CO2 into microsomal protein precursors of molecular weights similar to those of surfactant-associated proteins (SAP). Compared to carboxylated precursor proteins present in the liver, these molecules appeared to be unique to the lung. Antibodies raised against purified rat surfactant reacted with SAP ...
متن کاملThalassemia Associated Pulmonary Hypertension
Cardiac disease is the main cause of death in both forms of thalassemia; thalassemia major (TM) and thalassemia intermedia (TI). Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is one of the cardiopulmonary morbidities with high mortality that, if not treated, may trigger right-sided heart failure and premature death. PH is defined as a mean pulmonary artery pressure of ≥25 mmHg at rest or ≥30 mmHg during exercise...
متن کاملCHROMOSOMAL PROTEINS IN PULMONARY ALVEOLAR MACROPHAGES
In this study the nature of chromosomal proteins, his tones and nonhistone in resident alveolar macrophages was investigated in comparison to peritoneal neutrophils and calf thymus proteins. Cells were obtained by lavaging the lung and after purity determination they were subjected to fractional extraction procedures. Proteins were then analysed on SDS polyacrylamide gels and densitometric...
متن کاملPulmonary surfactant
Pulmonary surfactant is a complex mixture of lipids and proteins that, by modulating surface tension during breathing, prevents alveolar collapse at exhalation and overdistention at inspiration. Surfactant is synthesized by type II pneumocytes, assembled in lamellar bodies and secreted at the air-liquid interface of the alveolus. This surface-active material is re-uptaken by alveolar type II ce...
متن کاملPulmonary Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Management of Respiratory Conditions in Patient with COVID-19: Narrative Review
Introduction: COVID-19 is a disease caused by a novel type of coronavirus which primarily affects the respiratory system , induces mild pulmonary symptoms (e.g cough and dyspnea), is easily recovered and causes pneumonia in severe cases. It gets to admit the patientsin the intensive care unit. Physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation play an important role in improving respiratory function an...
